VBS is Over
Whew! This last week we had VBS at our church. Now that that's over, I can now resume my "normal" life...
Just so you know I haven't been idle, check out a few of the pics I took this last week of the kids.
Happy 4th! :-)

CCBC Lakeside Service 2003
Well, today our church, Canyon Creek Baptist, had our annual "Lakeside
Service" out at Temple Lake Park. Our best guess is that there were about 85
people there.
We played everything from Scrabble to P'tonk (the best way to describe this
game is that it's a French variation on horseshoes) to Wahoo! (a marble game)
to football. There were also two boats available for skiing and tubeing. Suffice
it to say we had a great time!
Then, of course, since we are good Baptists, we had lots of good food.
We also had two baptisms while we were there. That was very exciting.
Here are pictures of the afternoon

They're here! The moment you've all been waiting for has finally arrived!
Thanks to my lovely, beautiful, and wonderful wife, Betsie, who made me look
like a better photographer than I really am on a few of these, the pictures can
be viewed in a wonderful gallery format here.
Njoy!

Brainshare Day 6 - Sort of
Now, I know what you're thinking, "What happened to Part II for yesterday?"
Well, I was just too tired to blog last night and I knew I would have plenty time
here at the airport and/or on the plane. All that aside, yesterday evening was a
fairly interesting time. Pretend with me now, if you will, that I am writing this
yesterday...

Brainshare Day 5 - Part I
I would just like to rub in that I didn't wake up until 9:30 your time (CDT) this
morning. Wow, that was nice.
But, alas, on my last day of sessions here, a sad thing happened in my first
session. I was really looking forward to the session, too. It was a lab (not a
lecture, which is nice) and I had worked about 1.5 hours just getting to the part
I was interested in, when disbelief hit. The gentleman sitting next to me moved
his foot and bumped the power cord that powered every computer on our row.
Gone. All 8 computers rebooted. And due to the nature of the lab, saving work
isn't possible. We were runnning VMWare images, so once the VM is powered
off, it resorts back to the image. And for the rest of you, that just means there
was absolutely no way I could've saved what I was doing or prevented the
loss. Given that we only had another 30 minutes scheduled for the session, I
went to lunch.
I only have two more sessions for the day, so I'm thinking about driving over to
Park City this afternoon before the "Meet the Experts" evening event. I don't
know how long it takes to get there and back, so we'll see.

Brainshare Day 4
Yeah!!!
I finally found a wire-ful connection for the laptop up here! :-) It's nice to be off
dial-up again. 'Course, I'll be back to the phone line tonight again, but that's
ok. At least I can check my email from the laptop during the day now.
Ok, so now it's around 11pm and the above paragraph was written around
11:30 this morning. What a day. The sessions today were good, though. I
learned about a lot of cool stuph we could use at S&W.

Brainshare Day 3
Day 3
So far, my first day as a non-server admin in almost 4 years has been
ok. Looks like the end of the world hasn't come yet after all. :-) Yesterday
S&W Systems had a small reorg, and it sounds like my title changed from
Server Admin to Directory Services something-or-other. I'm really not so
sure what that will mean, just yet, but....Life goes on and continues to be
interesting, eh? :-)
My first session was pretty cool - DirXML commands, events, and
transformations. It lasted from 8:30 to 10:45. yeah, that's a long
time.
